Australian model and actress Miranda Kerr announced her split from husband of three years Orlando Bloom late last Thursday night, but the evening before news of the split broke the star was seen out on the town minus her wedding ring partying as if she didn’t have a care in the world.
The 30 year old mother of one appeared happy and relaxed when she attended the Vogue Fashion Fund/CFDA annual dinner in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening. Bizarrely, whilst the former Victoria’s Secret Angel had removed her wedding band she was still sporting her engagement ring as she made small talk with Hollywood’s fashion royalty.
Selfie Says ‘I’m Ok’
The star also posted a number of pouty faced selfies on her Instagram page just a few hours before estranged husband Bloom’s representative made it official with an announcement on E! News. The snaps showed Kerr applying lipstick, looking very far removed from the image we’d expect from a woman who had just announced the end of a six year relationship and prompting some to wonder whether there is more to the break up than meets the eye, with an extramarital affair being cited as a possible reason for the sudden split.
However, it’s more likely that the stresses the couple have endured over the last year could be responsible for the breakdown of the relationship. Whilst Bloom has been almost entirely out of the public eye, starring in a poorly received reworking of Romeo and Juliet on the New York stage, Kerr’s star has been very much on the rise.
‘Diva Behaviour’ Blamed for Unrenewed Victoria’s Secret Contracts
But her new found fame has not been won without a few problems along the way. The Antipodean beauty has failed to renew lucrative contracts with both Victoria’s Secret and Aussie department store David Jones this year, amid claims that the star is ‘difficult’ and prone to making diva demands, whilst an anonymous source told People magazine that Kerr was ‘standoffish’ and ‘not very timely’. Annie Kelly, who represents Kerr in the US, was quick to dismiss the claims, insisting that her contracts were not renewed due to other work commitments. Kelly went on to hammer the point home by revealing that Kerr would be walking at this year’s Victoria’s Secret show and appears on the cover of their most recent catalogue. She went on to detail Kerr’s other projects, including a contract with fashion giant Mango and her ongoing association with Qantas airlines.
Kerr began dating Orlando Bloom in 2007 and the couple have one child together, a son named Flynn who was born in 2011. The former couple have not been pictured together since late last year and have not been seen in public together since the premier of Bloom’s Broadway play in early September. Despite the fact that they had already been separated for a number of months, Kerr gushed about Bloom’s performance and gave no indication of troubled waters in an interview for Cosmopolitan earlier this month.
