Aussie fitness entrepreneur Michelle Bridges hit the headlines last year following an affair with her Biggest Loser co-star Steve Willis, but in a recent news.com.au interview the personal trainer and fitness guru said that she would not let the extramarital affair affect her career and attested that the recent difficulties she has suffered would only serve to make her stronger, commenting that she was looking forward to a number of exciting new business ventures this year.
Discussing her difficult year following the revelations of her infidelity with Willis, who is known as ‘Commando’, Bridges commented ‘that’s life’. She went on to say that we all have a professional and personal life but in most cases the two are kept separate, adding that she believed the public understand who she is and what she stands for.
When the extramarital affair with ‘Commando’ Willis was revealed last year Bridges separated from her husband of nine years and manager Bill Moore. Commando, who was also in a long term relationship and has two children with his former partner, 2 year old Jack and six year old Ella, as well as a fifteen year old daughter from a previous relationship, also split from his partner when news of the affair broke.
Although the pair briefly separated last year whilst the media storm was raging, they now insist that they are very much an item. In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Bridges was positive about her annus horribilis, despite negative press attention and a painful divorce.
She told the Herald ‘I had a great year, I learned a lot about myself, my wellness, my health and my business and I’m ready for 2014.’
Bridges, who labels herself as a career driven businesswoman, is said to be worth around $67 million and owns three companies including her popular internet based personal training service ’12 Week Body Transformation’. In addition, Bridges owns fitness clothing line One Active and is a best-selling author of fitness and self-help books. According to the self-confessed gym addict her extramarital affair has not skewed her focus.
The super-toned star is a Biggest Loser trainer and recently revealed that this year the show will be taking on the challenge of slimming down Australia’s fattest town. Bridges explained that she would take on a different role on this season’s show, secretly training an entire town of overweight participants, as well as secretly training eliminated contestants and returning at the end of the season for ‘revenge’.
Bridges appeared last week on the Daily Shot talking to Ali Wentworth where she briefly discussed her affair with Commando and busted the five biggest exercise myths. For the last month bridges has been living and working in New York in an attempt to break the lucrative US market.
It appears that the affair between Bridges and Commando Willis has not dampened the Aussie enthusiasm for The Biggest Loser, the first airing of the new series received the show’s highest ratings ever.
